All of a Kind Family
Book: All of a Kind Family
Author: Sydney Taylor
All of a Kind Family was another one of those books that I just happened to see on the library shelf. And what a prize it turned out to be!
This lovely book by Sydney Taylor revolves around a Jewish immigrant family living in New York City in the beginning of the 1900s.
My children and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to meet Mama and Papa and their 5 girls: Ella, Henny, Sarah, Charlotte, and Gertie.
The girls in this book shared many similarities with my own girls – those special things that only sisters can understand. Needless to say, my girls had a marvelous time deciding how they were similar to the All of a Kind Family sisters!
Since the family is Jewish, we get a sneak peek into Jewish culture, which we loved! My children and I recently studied Exodus, including the Tabernacle and the Priests. It was interesting to see how this Jewish family celebrated those Jewish Feasts and traditions of long ago.
I guarantee my children and I will never forget Shabbat after reading about it in All of a Kind Family!
In a world saturated with screens, electronics, irreverence for God, and an abhorrence for family values, All of a Kind Family is nothing but a breath of fresh air!
My children and I were beyond thrilled to find out this is the first in a series!
♥ All of a Kind Family Downtown – This is the 4th book in the series, but the setting is directly after the original All of a Kind Family.
