4th of July Reading Comprehension Worksheet
Reading comprehension stories are always a favorite with my children! They love to read the story with me and then answer the questions. Plus, reading comprehension stories are excellent for sparking discussions. Use every moment you can for teaching opportunities with your children.
This 4th of July reading comprehension worksheet contains a fiction story about a boy whose family is hosting a Fourth of July cookout. He must do several jobs before the cookout, which should be relatable for most children!
Read the story with your child and then have him answer the questions independently if he is able. If not, freely give support with reading and guide him in understanding.
The ‘Think About It’ questions at the bottom of the page are meant to be answered orally and encourage discussion. Ask your child, “Why do you think that? How did you decide on your answer? What evidence do you have to support your answer? Is your reply a fact or an opinion?”
These questions are just to get you started!
