Homeschool Curriculum

Homeschool Curriculum

Over the past 10+ years here at Mama’s Learning Corner, I’ve written quite a bit about homeschool curriculum – different curriculum that we have chosen through the years, how I use a particular curriculum, how I adapted different curricula to fit our circumstances.

Whether you’re curriculum hunting for something new or just want to take a peek and see how we learn, there are several curricula ideas to wade through in the links below!

Grab a cup of coffee and click around a bit!  Browse by subject or by grade.

How I Decide to Buy New or Used Homeschool Curriculum Video

Before I get started with all of the various homeschool curricula, you might be interested to know my method of deciding whether I am going to buy curriculum new or used.

I also give a few of my tips for buying curriculum as cheaply as possible.

Christian Studies and Teaching the Bible Resources

→ Bible Study Guide for All Ages – I reviewed this when my children were much younger – 9 years ago!  We have turned to it multiple times throughout the years, however.  It’s still a favorite.

→ Who Am I? Series from Apologia – This is also an old review (2103!), however, I’m getting ready to pull it back off the shelf to read through with my little girls (ages 10 and 12) again.

→ Christian Studies from Memoria Press – We’ve gone through all 3 levels of this curriculum and it’s one of my favorites.  Take a look at how we work through a week’s Lesson.

Language Arts

→ How We Use Rod and Staff English Grammar in Our Homeschool – This is a very detailed look at Rod and Staff’s English Grammar Teacher’s Guide and Student book; includes how I use and schedule it each week

→ How I Teach Spelling in Our Homeschool – This post features all of the resources I use to teach phonics and spelling in our homeschool

→ Our Experience with Traditional Spelling I from Memoria Press – Look at how I used Traditional Spelling I and how I scheduled it each week for my struggling reader; this is one of my favorites!

→ Early Kindergarten with All About Reading Level Pre-Reading – The super simple mostly non-messy craft with each letter is the icing on the cake with this one.

Math

→ Why We Switched from Singapore Math to Math Mammoth This Year – I loved both of these programs!

→ Why Math Mammoth is a Fantastic Fit for Our Homeschool – While we don’t use Math Mammoth any longer, it was a perfect fit for quite a time.

→ How We Use BJU Algebra 1 in Our Homeschool – Take a peek at what we do each day and the time requirement for me.

Latin

→ Why I Teach Latin in Our Homeschool – There’s a long list of reasons to teach Latin to our children.  These are just a few reasons that are important in our home.

→ How I Teach Prima Latina in Our Homeschool – Prima Latina is written for homeschool teachers that have no Latin experience at all.  I can vouch for that!  This is a great place to start a Latin journey.

History

→ The BIG List of U.S. History Homeschool Curriculum – Find textbook and other types of full U.S. History Curriculum for K through 12th Grade.

→ How We Use Famous Men of Rome in Our Homeschool – This is a good once-a-week method that works well for our family.

I used Tapestry of Grace for 5+ years, and I loved it.  I have several posts on this lovely program, if you’re interested.

→ Planning Tapestry of Grace When  You Homeschool Multiple Ages

→ How I Plan Tapestry of Grace During the Summer

→ Using Tapestry Primer with My Kindergartner and First Grader

→ Planning Tapestry of Grace for the Lower Grammar Stage

Preschool

→ Ready Made Preschool Level 1 – My crafty younger girls absolutely adored this curriculum.  It is so easy to implement and there is very little prep for mom.  Highly recommended!

→ Ready Made Preschool Level 2

Music and Art

→ Art Appreciation in Our Homeschool – A simple way to expose my children to artists

→ Best Homeschool Curriculum – While these are not my ideas, they are tried-and-true suggestions straight from my readers.  This is a good place to start if you need a wide variety of curricula to research.

Beginning in 2012, I wrote posts about our homeschool curriculum choices for the coming years.  Most years, I separated them out, so you can browse by grade.

After compiling this list, I see that I must have gotten tired on the even years, because that’s when I combined the grades into one post!

For the 2021-2022 school year, my children will be Early Kindergarten, 5th grade, 7th grade, 9th grade, and 11th grade.  I’ll try to have those posted by mid to late June.
