Practice initial sounds while matching the pictures with this set of Beginning Sounds Worksheets. Whether your students need focuses attention on letter sounds or the occasional spiral review, this packet will be the just-right supplement to your phonics curriculum!
This packet contains 20 worksheets, each with 6 different letter sounds, including consonants and vowels. Your student should identify the beginning sound of each picture, and then choose the other pictures in the row with the same beginning sound.
Letter sounds include single letter sounds with no blends or digraphs when identifying the initial sound.
Note that the ending sound is used with the letter x since there are very few English words that begin with the phonetic sound of the letter x.
If the initial sound is a vowel, note that I chose either the long or short sound of the vowel and that particular sound is used in the row. For example, I did not mix the short a and long a sounds in the same row for children to identify.
