If you read last month’s January Word Search Puzzle Packet post, you know that I created a set of monthly word search packets in 2017 for my then-6-year-old daughter that couldn’t get enough word searches!
Back in 2017, I published a set of monthly word searches for my word-search-loving girls. They were a hit with them! They were in need of some updating, so please download the newest version and enjoy all over again!
💕 Browse through the variety of worksheets and printable hands-on activities for Valentine’s Day here at Mama’s! You’ll find phonics mazes, more color by code, cut and paste number booklets, and more!

February Word Search Printable Pack
These February word search worksheets have a variety of themes for your young learners. While we don’t cover each of these themes in our own homeschool, I like the fact that these word searches expose my 6-year-old to different ideas and holidays.
For example, Mardi Gras isn’t something we don’t often talk about in our home (it just doesn’t come up!), but this word search is a neat way to expose her to vocabulary associated with the holiday.
At a Glance
- Pages: 10 puzzles + answer key
- Words per puzzle: 12
- Skills: vocabulary, spelling, visual scanning
- Great for: K–3, in between homeschool subjects, early finishers, morning work
Since my girl is such a beginning reader, I always go over each one of the words with her. That also gives us an opportunity to talk about words with which she is not familiar.

Easy Ways to Use These February Word Search Puzzles
Are word searches just busy work for kids? I say absolutely not!
Yes, they are fun pages, but word searches can be packed with learning.
Here are a few suggestions on using these in your homeschool:
- These word searches are grouped by theme. Choose a ‘theme for the day’ or have a ‘Fun Friday Theme’ each week. Talk about the theme – read a book, watch an educational You Tube video, and go over each vocabulary word. Ensure your children know what each word means and can use it appropriately in a sentence.
- Do your students need phonics help? Choose a few words from the word bank in the puzzle and focus on a particular phonics concept. For example, choose to work on vowel teams, silent letters (such as a silent k or g), consonant blends, tricky spelling concepts, or types of syllables. The opportunities for phonics mastery are endless here.
Need help with teaching spelling? Take a look at How I Teach Spelling in Our Homeschool - Use this as a brainstorming activity. After reviewing the vocabulary words together on your chosen puzzle page, brainstorm other words that could be included. Make a list on the board and add to it throughout the day or week.
- Need penmanship practice? Have your child write the vocabulary words – in print or cursive – in their best penmanship.
