My girls are in love with all kinds of mini-books: mini-coloring pages, mini-reading books, mini-math fact practice books. Something about the smaller size makes it more appealing for them! This set of printable Fruit Coloring Pages will be a fun addition for my girls.
Later this semester, we’re going to work on a fruit and vegetable unit, so these will be a creative addition. I’ll just print them a new set for them to color all over again.
Update: We did complete that unit study (one of our favorites!) and you can find some ideas for your own study here Fruit and Vegetable Unit Study
This post was originally written in March 2014. It has been updated many times throughout the years. Please download the newest version and enjoy all over again with your young ones!

Printable Fruit Coloring Pages
After you download this set of printable Fruit Coloring Pages, cut them along the dotted line in the middle to create half-pages. I created the cover page to go on top, the fruit to go in any order your child chooses, the ‘What fruits are ____?’ pages to go next, and the Favorite Fruit writing page to go last.
If you have introduced alphabetical order, your child can use that as a guide for ordering the pages if you wish.
Of course you put them in any order you and your child desire!

In this 17-page set of fruit coloring pages, you’ll find the following words and pictures:
♦ blueberries, apple, lemon
♦ banana, cherries, grapes
♦ orange, pear, watermelon
♦ strawberry, peach, pineapple, plum
♦ What fruits are red?
♦ What fruits are yellow?
♦ “My favorite fruit is _____.”

Creative Ways to Use these Fruit Coloring Pages
This packet of Fruit Coloring Pages can be used in a variety of ways! Just choose an option from the list below, print your papers, and let the learning begin!
— Use this activity to teach colors to your young ones. Before assembling the booklet, you and your child can lay the pages out and sort the fruit by color. Pull out a red crayon and find the fruits that are red and put those in a pile (strawberries, cherries, apples). Then find a yellow crayon and sort the fruits that are yellow into a pile (bananas, lemons, the inside of pineapple)
— Add this set of fruit coloring pages to a nutrition unit study for your Preschool or Kindergarten children. Talk about fruit being an excellent snack choice and the need to add fruit to your breakfast, lunch, or dinner plate. Browse through the pages with your child and have him write a check or dot on the fruits the he loves the most. Teach the food groups and why fruits are so important for our health and helping us grow.
— For children that are beginning readers, sort the pages by beginning sound. If it is appropriate, show how to organize the pages with the beginning sound in the correct alphabetical order.
— Examine fruit using the 5 senses. Talk about each of the 5 senses in relation to fruit. What fruits are sweet? What fruits are bumpy? Smooth? What fruits smell the best? What fruits are soft and squishy? What do the fruits sound like when you tap them? This activity is even more fun if you have a variety of fruits for the children to touch (and taste!) as they examine each one.
Recommended Books and Toys for a Fruit Unit Study
There are a multitude of excellent fiction and non-fiction books and educational toys you could use to create your own Fruits and Vegetables Unit Study. Here are a few of our favorites to give you some ideas.
Just a note: When choosing books and educational toys for a unit study, I always try to buy items that I think my children will use over and over. Think long-term, and you will be happier with your choices!

The Fruits We Eat by Gail Gibbons

Fruit and Vegetable Tote – This tote is super cute! Use it for your unit study and then add it to your play kitchen area. I really liked the quality of this set.

Farmer’s Market Color Sorting Set – My kiddos LOVE this set! It has (I think) 25 different fruits and vegetables , including more unique items like a yellow apple or eggplant.

I am helping in my son’s preschool class next week. I’m making a friendship fruit salad and reading a book to give to his class and I thought bringing these books for the kids to create and keep for themselves would be so fun to add to the experience! Thank you for creating this content! I look forward to purchasing more cute printables for my boys.
