It is hard to believe that it is time to share another senior year! Today I am sharing our complete 12th grade homeschool curriculum for the 2026–2027 school year, including the Christian classical curriculum choices we will use for this final year of high school. By 12th grade, my curriculum planning looks quite different than it did in the elementary and middle school years. Instead of simply choosing what we want to study, I am also looking carefully at remaining graduation requirements, high school credits, this particular child’s strengths and interests, and what will make for a productive—but reasonable—senior year.
And the emphasis for this current senior is on the word reasonable.
If you’re new to my curriculum posts, please understand that this is not a checklist of what every homeschool mother must plan for her 12th grader. I have deliberately chosen these classes and subjects for this particular child. Like everyone else, she is a unique person and has unique learning needs. As her homeschool mother, I can make the subject and lesson plans fit her, instead of the other way around.

My senior this year is my #3 child – my middle child and my middle girl. Honestly, our homeschool years have not always been easy ones. But the most important thing is my daughter knows the Lord. She is saved through her faith in Jesus Christ and strives daily to live a life to make Jesus proud.
There is no greater joy to my heart as her mother. I am so proud of who she is becoming.
Just a note of encouragement, Mamas: Keep on doing the daily work, even when it feels like you can’t and you want to quit. It is worth it, and that daily pouring into your child will bring fruit for both of you. Just do the next thing, whatever that is.
As I have said in practically every curriculum post I’ve written over the last 15 years, I was not educated classically, so I learn right along with my children. While this adds an extra layer of challenge for me, it does make it fun. ❤️

I have used a wide variety of curriculum through my 17+ years of homeschooling. After much prayer and pondering, this is what I believe is the best fit for my current 12th grader.

Our Christian Classical 12th Grade Homeschool Curriculum Choices
My sweet senior girl will be the first to tell you that academics are not her favorite. My girl is a people person – she can read and understand people very well, she is warm & friendly, and she is very loyal and faithful to those around her. I have often thought that if I could give her a grade in “people-ing”, she would get an A+ every single time.
It’s a shame that some of our best qualities are not measurable by a test that the world considers helpful or “good.”
In light of her strengths, I have adjusted her senior year to be one that is doable, and most importantly, I want her to walk away from her senior year and feel proud of herself. That is my top priority for her, honestly.
As is usual in our high school homeschool, we are doing a mix of mom-led and online classes.
12th Grade Math – Geometry and Algebra II
Math has always been a difficult subject for my daughter, due to the fact that she doesn’t care for it. It’s hard to give effort to something you either don’t appreciate or just plain dislike. As a result, my senior is doing Mr. D Math at double pace.
The first 18 weeks, she is taking the self-paced Geometry course. The second 18 weeks, she will take Algebra II.
I am not a huge AI fan, however, it was very helpful in creating a schedule for me. I put in the Scope and Sequence of both courses and it made a plan for me in an excel spreadsheet. Beautiful!

12th Grade Science – Chemistry with Lab
My daughter is going to take BJU Chemistry this year, using the online teaching option. The teacher for this course, Mr. Harmon, is funny, a bit quirky, and makes it interesting! Despite not loving Chemistry, my daughter enjoys his teaching style.
Because math and science are not my daughter’s favorite and she has other “hard” courses, I have streamlined this rigorous course as much as possible for her this year. Keep in mind that my goal for her this year is to feel successful, and if I keep BJU’s Chemistry as-is, this will not meet that goal.
She will also complete the required lab work throughout the year so this course will count as a high school Chemistry with Lab credit.
I adjusted what I require for the course: She will keep meticulous Guided Notes from the online lectures and she will complete the questions as assigned. She is required to take the quizzes and tests, but some of them I will allow to be open book or a notecard at the very least. And for the Lab portion, she is required to watch all of the labs I assign and then complete just a handful herself with my help.

12th Grade BJU World History
We are using BJU’s World History, 6th Edition for our course of study this year. I love the newest version! The text is more interesting to read, the section questions are formatted in a more agreeable manner, and the Student Activities are wonderful so far! I am loving this new style.
BJU also added a new product that I have not encountered before: the Teacher’s Companion. And let me just say that it is one of my favorite new planning pieces! It contains the same information as the Chapter planning pages, just in a more digestible format.
You can see At a Glance what your child’s recommended assignment is (what to read in the text and questions to answer), as well as any links in the Homeschool Hub, as well as Student Activity pages that are assigned. I pull this off the shelf every Sunday evening when I plan. I hope BJU will add this to every high school subject!
Just to clarify: The new Teacher’s Companion contains the same pacing and planning guides as contained in the Teacher’s Manual or the Homeschool Hub (BJU’s planning tool). So the information is already available in other formats. I find the Teacher’s Companion to be the most helpful for me on a daily and weekly basis.

12th Grade Economics
Most high school economics courses are only a half credit, however, I chose to plan our economics course so my daughter will earn a full credit. This is a fun and interesting course to her, and she could use the extra half credit on her transcript.
I am using Economics for Everybody from Compass Classroom as the backbone for this course. While it took me a bit to understand how the videos and Student Guide worked together with the student dashboard, I have it all ironed out now.
To make this course into a full credit, I added Whatever Happened to Penny Candy? and Basic Economics by Carson and Cleveland, as suggested by Compass Classroom. I purchased the Basic Economics Teacher’s Guide pdf, and pulled the chapters and questions we will use from there.
Lastly, I added The Law by Frederic Bastiat and Economics for Helen by Hilaire Belloc to round this out as a classical economics course. I am so satisfied with this – it has equal parts of practicality and classical economics, all while understanding this topic through a Christian lens.

12th Grade Composition – Classical Composition
My 12th grader is finishing up her last step in the progymnasmata with High School Composition IV with Memoria Academy. In this course, she will complete Classical Composition IX: Thesis & Law.
This class has been a joy to her and she has excelled with the guidance of her excellent teachers. This last portion is only a one-semester class that she will complete this fall.
This class is totally independent for her. I only check in once weekly to make sure assignments are completed and to check on grades.

12th Grade Literature – The Divine Comedy
As the capstone to my daughter’s 12th grade year, she and I are studying The Divine Comedy together using Memoria Press materials. Literature and history are by far my favorite subjects to teach and study with my children, and this one is just a delight!
I was only able to read through Inferno with my oldest girl (she finished through Paradiso), so I am excited to finish all of Dante this year. What an accomplishment this will be for both of us!
I am using the Memoria Press lesson plans to pace our year. Our method is to read through the Reading Notes in the Student Workbook and complete the vocabulary, read the assigned Canto, and then watch the Lecture Video for more complete understanding.
Then my daughter completes the assigned questions. After every 2 or 3 Cantos, we meet to discuss.
So far, this is going beautifully and I am so thrilled we chose to do this together. This class is a commitment of time, effort, and energy for both of us, and I am very pleased thus far.
As far as high school credit is concerned, this class could easily be Literature or Classical Studies on her transcript. For now, I am choosing to place it as Literature.

12th Grade Christian Studies
Lastly, my senior girl will study Early Church History with Memoria Academy this fall. This is a one-semester course that uses Henry Chadwick’s The Early Church as its main text, along with the Book of Acts.
Dr. Dray is teaching this class, and as I mentioned in the 10th grade Curriculum post, he is one of our family’s favorite instructors! This will be a great class for my daughter and she is looking forward to it beginning in a few weeks.
The Memoria Press teacher sets the class and assignments, so I have no responsibility there, however, I check in weekly in the Student Portal to make sure she is keeping up with the work and to check on grades.
