If your child needs practice editing simple sentences, these correct capitalization and punctuation worksheets are a quick, straightforward way to work on both skills at once. Your student reads each sentence, fixes what needs to be fixed, and then uses the space at the bottom to write a sentence independently—perfect for 2nd, 3rd, ad 4th grade practice.
These types of worksheets are perfect for me as a homeschool mom of 16 years. I am always on the lookout for activities that are low-prep, print-and-go pages that don’t require a lot from me to set up.
With this type of grammar activity, I make sure my child understands the directions and often go through the first one with him. Then he is off to complete the rest independently and I am nearby should he need help.

How to Use These Sentence Editing Worksheets
These pages offer much opportunity to help your children learn about capitalization and punctuation. Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Morning Work
Use these pages as a daily grammar warm-up if your child is using these for review only.
Some days we start with a math warm-up, other days we have handwriting or grammar. Use these on your grammar days! - One-on-One Time
I often use worksheets like this as a conversation with my child. If he is confident completing the worksheet, he finishes all of the editing work and we then go back over it together.
If he is not confident, we go over each one as he works on it.
This type of individual instruction is essential to understanding, so make sure you take the time to sit together! - Light School Days
Occasionally life dictates that our school days be lighter than usual. On the days where work must still be done, add in one or two of these editing worksheets to keep skills fresh. - Writing Prep
Some parents and teachers use editing worksheets prior to writing and composition instruction as a reminder of capitalization and punctuation rules.
Try this method and see if it’s a good fit for your learners!
What Skills This Correct Capitalization and Punctuation Practice Builds
These worksheets were written for grammar concepts taught in 3rd and 4th grades.
Your children will review capital letters at the beginning of sentences, the pronoun I, days of the week and months of the year, and common and proper nouns.
