Earlier this week, I shared that my oldest son has gotten his feet wet with Notebooking. It’s been such a hit so far!
I also shared that I was very nervous about starting something so new. And involved. I was intimidated to say the least. We had a pretty good homeschool routine going on, so I didn’t want to rock the boat with adding something new. However, after reading many different how-to sites, I felt completely confident that Notebooking was something that we could try.
If you’re interested at all in Notebooking and don’t know where to begin, I’ve outlined my two favorite Notebooking Resources below. These two sites are all you really need to get started in successful Notebooking. I enthusiastically endorse them both!
Notebooking Success E-Book
Like any other new-to-me homeschooling technique or method, I needed a great tutorial, a how-to. I don’t know anyone in my personal homeschool circle that uses this particular method, so I went to my online homeschool circle for expertise.
Some of the most helpful information I encountered was in the ebook Notebooking Success, written by Jimmie of The Notebooking Fairy. What a treasure trove of detailed how-to information! It was precisely what I was looking for.
Jimmie starts with outlining the reasons why Notebooking is beneficial and how it will only help me become a better teacher to my little people.
The ebook then describes the next steps in getting started: how to set up a notebook and needed materials. Jimmie lists the endless different options in Notebooking, including a bonus freebie: 50 Things to Put Into a Notebook. That 50-item list is worth the price of the book, in my opinion. It contains excellent ideas!
Lastly, I was grateful for the grade level guide in determining exactly how much Notebooking should take place. I was grateful that was included, as I needed some type of starting point.
Notebooking Success is currently priced at $5.50, but is worth a far greater value, in my opinion. It is a true go-to resource that I’ve re-read several times.
If you are already a Notebooking family, surely you know about NotebookingPages.com, right? I’m currently a member of the Treasury Section and oh my I believe it is well-worth the money. There are literally thousands of Notebooking pages on a myriad of topics: Ancient History all the way to Modern Times, Science/Nature Study, Bible, Language Arts, 3D pages and on and on.
While NotebookingPages.com has a large amount of how-to information, the following are the specific resources I used to help me wrap my brain around the concept of Notebooking:
Since May is the Sale-a-Bration month, NotebookingPages.com is currently hosting an unbelievable special: The usual price of $74.95 is slashed to $56.21, which is a 25% savings!
The offer is available until May 22nd.
There is also a HUGE launch of their newest product: The Notebooking Publisher. This is a new web application where Notebooking pages are completely customizable. NotebookingPages.com describes their new product:
Add your own text, photos, & clipart PLUS pre-loaded embellishments to:
1) Customize & publish printable PDF notebooking pages from 100s of our pre-designed notebooking templates
2) Create & publish your own printable PDF notebooking pages from scratch.
3) Children now have the option to completely notebook their study on the computer — creating their own customized notebooking template and finishing the page with their typed narrations, notes, stories, chosen artwork, and embellishments.
Do you use Notebooking in your homeschool? I’d love to hear how your family implements Notebooking and the resources you use.
Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of Notebooking Success. I also received a free Treasury Membership to NotebookingPages.com. I received no other financial compensation to review or mention these products. The opinions expressed are 100% my own. This post does contain an affiliate link.
