When my children were little, I learned quickly that a little bit of “fun” can make a big difference in our school day. These winter number tracing worksheets add a simple seasonal twist to a skill that often needs lots of repetition. Inside this printable packet you’ll find winter-themed number tracing strips from 0 to 50, perfect for preschool and kindergarten learners who are practicing number formation, number recognition, and early number sense. Print only the numbers your child needs right now, and keep the rest ready to pull out as skills grow!
When my children are in the elementary school time of learning, I try to use themes as much as possible. Themes that change with the season or holiday or special time of year just make learning more fun! It adds a bit of spice to the activity that might otherwise be ho-hum.
Activities like number tracing can be boring without active engagement from mom, and the winter theme adds even more enjoyment.
So don’t be afraid of themes! They bring beauty and enjoyment to the school day!

Winter Number Tracing Worksheets
Most children need ample amounts of practice with writing letters and numbers. Of my five children, there are three that needed direct and focused attention on writing numbers. There is nothing wrong with needing extra practice to learn a skill – and handwriting is definitely a skill! – so take some time to plan for that.
Other children need much practice with recognizing numbers and developing number sense. This set of Winter Number Tracing Worksheets is just one way to develop and encourage number sense.
Regardless of your child’s need, you will find these number tracing strips to be beneficial in learning a variety of skills!

What’s Included in This Winter Number Tracing Printable Packet
In this packet, you will find winter-themed number strips from 0 to 50. If your young ones are only working on numbers 0 to 10, simply print the number strips that you need.
Note that there are several blank strips on the last page for your child to practice as needed.
I included a wide range of numbers since most children learn at least through 20 – and often through the number 50 – in Kindergarten.

How to Use These Winter Number Tracing Worksheets
I recommend printing the Winter Number Tracing Worksheets on cardstock, and then depending on your use, laminating them for durability. If you are going to use them as a regular worksheet, plain copy paper is best.
There are a multitude of ways to use these number strips in your homeschool or classroom. Here are a few ideas to get you started, which are also included in the printable packet for easy reference.
❄️ Print on copy paper for one time use with a pencil, as you would a regular tracing activity.
❄️ Print and place in a page protector and provide dry erase markers for repeated use. This is a perfect activity to place in your child’s Daily Calendar Notebook and change out each week for variety.
❄️ Laminate each page and cut apart the strips. Place them on a ring to keep them together, which also makes them portable. Place a selection of these in your child’s daily workbox, or place them in your classroom learning centers. Trace with dry erase markers.

❄️ If you choose to laminate and cut into strips, choose one strip. Match it with a Printable Number Card. Build the number with any math manipulative you have on hand, but Math-U-See style place value blocks work best for this activity, in my opinion.
You can also have your child match the number to the number word.

❄️ Choose a number strip and practice writing the number. Then brainstorm items that come in that amount or are grouped in that amount.
For example, choose the number 8. What comes in groups of 8? Choices might include a pack of hot dogs, a pack of crayons, a pack of pencils, the legs of a spider, 8 pints in a gallon.
