It is one of my favorite times of the year – time to share another year of homeschool curriculum choices! Today I am sharing our complete 10th grade homeschool curriculum choices for the 2026–2027 school year. This will be my fourth time homeschooling a 10th grader, and although many of these courses are familiar to me, all of my children have needed a custom high school experience. They are each individual and unique, after all!
Our 10th grade year reflects the Christian classical education we follow in our homeschool, with courses in Geometry, Biology, United States History, Greek, Christian Studies, literature, composition, grammar, and spelling. This is a fairly demanding academic year, so I have carefully considered her work load and our family dynamics and season of homeschooling. Each are equally important, I have found!
As I have said in practically every curriculum post I’ve written over the last 15 years, I was not educated classically, so I learn right along with my children. While this adds an extra layer of challenge for me, it does make it fun. ❤️
You can read more about that here ➡️ How I Educate Myself as a Classical Homeschool Mom

Summary of Our 10th Grade Homeschool Curriculum
I have used a wide variety of curriculum through my 17+ years of homeschooling. After much prayer and pondering, this is what I believe is the best fit for my current 10th grader.
| Subject | Curriculum | Why I Chose It |
|---|---|---|
| Math | Mr. D Algebra I (1st half) Mr. D Geometry (2nd half) | I don’t have to teach it (just being honest) |
| Science | BJU Biology | The teaching videos are helpful for me |
| History | BJU U.S. History | Writing style is interesting; the updated version is great! |
| Classical Studies | Memoria Press Greek Tragedies | We couldn’t pass up Dr. Dray teaching this amazing class! |
| Greek | Memoria Press 2nd Form Greek | The Forms series in both Greek and Latin are laid out for success. We love them. |
| Spelling | Memoria Press Traditional Spelling VI | Remedial spelling help and review. This level is perfect for her. |
I have also included her other subjects below, so don’t miss those!
Our Christian Classical 10th Grade Homeschool Curriculum Choices
In our homeschool, I have found that my 10th graders are finally a bit more settled into the workload of high school. 9th grade tends to be a hard year for me as homeschool mom in making sure assignments are completed, but the 10th grade year for my children seems to go a bit smoother.
I am hoping that is the case with my current 10th grader also!
You will see below that there are a couple of online classes for my 10th grader, a couple of self-paced ones, and the others I teach here at home. This is usually a good mix for our high school years, depending on the child being taught.
This particular child is the creative type and needs time to do just that. Knowing this about her, I modify her assignments at times, just as I did my other children, to allow for outside interests.
Academics, after all, is not everything. It’s important, of course, and takes priority in our homeschool day most days, but we keep academics in its properly ordered place.
10th Grade Math – Algebra I and Geometry
My daughter will venture on to Geometry this year, and we are using Mr. D Math for that course. Although I am able, I definitely do not enjoy teaching high school level math. I have chosen to take that burden off of my plate this year and outsource it to Mr. D.
The first half of the year, my 10th grader will take Algebra I in one semester using the Live Class. The second semester, she will complete Geometry using the same method.
My oldest girl took the Algebra I refresher and then Geometry using this same method and it was a great fit for her. We have also used Mr. D with other math classes and it has been a good fit. I anticipate this going well. (I hope!)
Mr. D Math does not use a textbook, so the traditionalist in me has a hard time with that, but I have learned to overcome that through the years!

Both classes are worth 1.0 high school credit.
10th Grade Science – Biology
I tried to combine last year’s 9th grader and 11th grader for Biology. Let’s just say that did not go well and certainly did not go according to plan. We had to fight too many logistical problems for it to work.
As a result, my 10th grader will work on BJU Biology again this year. While I am not handing over the course to be completely self-paced, I did purchase the online version. She will watch the streaming videos from BJU, do the assigned questions, and then we will discuss in class.
My biggest issue with this course is that BJU does not provide Guided Notes for the teaching portion of the class. Honestly, that was the whole entire reason I bought the teaching videos, so I am greatly disappointed about that.
We are adjusting, however, and I have changed my expectations for the course.

10th Grade United States History
We are using BJU United States History, 6th Edition, and I love the updates to the newest edition! The questions at the end of each section are manageable, the text is more readable in my opinion, and the Teacher’s Manual is wonderful as always.
In addition to reading the text and completing the questions at the end of the section, I am assigning her a few of the suggested videos that are in BJU’s Homeschool Hub (their planning tool). I determine which videos I want her to watch, create an assignment within the Hub, and then she can watch most of them right there in the Hub.
There are a few You Tube videos, so that requires extra from me since free You Tube watching isn’t allowed at our house, but I can work around it! I love that there are curated videos about the exact topic of which we’re learning.
She reads the text, completes the questions, does any extra assignments in the Student Activities book, and then we discuss once or twice a week. This works well for us so far!

10th Grade Classical Studies – Greek Plays
My daughter is so thrilled to take Classical Studies III: Greek Plays with Dr. Dray at Memoria Academy. Dr. Dray is greatly loved in our family, so this will be a great course for my 10th grader.
She will read and study: The Three Theban Plays, Medea & Other Plays, and The Oresteian Triology
While this course can certainly be classified as Classical Studies or Literature, I chose to call it Classical Studies on her transcript since she already has quite a bit of Language and Grammar credits this year. This choice makes a more balanced transcript, in my opinion.
The Memoria Press teacher sets the class and assignments, so I have no responsibility there, however, I check in weekly in the Student Portal to make sure she is keeping up with the work and to check on grades.

10th Grade Composition
Classical Composition with Memoria Academy is one of children’s favorite courses in high school. All four of my older children have loved it and learned how to hone their writing skills. I have been so thrilled with this course over the years!
This year, my 10th grader is taking High School Composition III, which is Encomium, Invective, and Comparison, Characterization, and Description.
Like the Greek Plays online class, I will check in once a week or so to make sure assignments are completed and she’s on track.

10th Grade Grammar and Spelling Review
My daughter needs a review year of grammar and spelling. We should have completed it last school year, but I didn’t have the bandwidth for it. So we will complete a review year during her 10th grade year. I realize this seems “late” to many homeschoolers, but I would rather her review during 10th grade and have solid skills than graduate from high school with these holes.
Traditional Spelling VI
We are using Traditional Spelling VI from Memoria Press as our refresher course. Because of the way the courses were published, my daughter was able to complete only the first two levels of Traditional Spelling. We completed other spelling curricula through the years, of course.
While Level VI is meant for 6th grade, this will be a perfect refresher course for her.
I teach it exactly as written, and we have a teaching-heavy day on Monday. The rest of the week, she is on her own to complete the work.
I love how there is such an emphasis on syllables and specifically the various spellings of the schwa sound since that is such a hard concept in the English language. Traditional Spelling VI is laid out very logically for both teacher and student. This is a great fit for us so far.
☑️ Traditional Spelling VI: Includes Teacher’s Manual and the Student Guide
Rod and Staff English Grammar
For a grammar refresher, we are using Rod and Staff English Grammar Grade 7. Before we started the school year, I made a quick plan of which lessons we would accomplish and which concepts we will skip. This gives me an At a Glance idea of what comes next when I make our weekly plan each Sunday afternoon.
We will not complete any of the composition exercises since she takes a separate Composition class as noted above.
I teach a new grammar lesson two times each week and she completes the work on the alternate days.
Homeschool Mom Note: Don’t be afraid to use curriculum or materials that “are not on grade level.” The English Grammar Grade 7 and the Spelling Grade 6 does not mean that my daughter is behind. She is not being introduced to these concepts for the first time. This is considered review. Forget what the number on the outside of the book says – meet your child where she is currently. Everyone will be happier and more successful!
☑️ Rod & Staff English Grammar Grade 7: Includes the Teacher’s Manual, Student Text, Worksheets, and Tests
High School Credit: 1.0 Grammar and Spelling Review Credit (Honestly, I’m not sure what I’m going to call this on her transcript yet.)
10th Grade Greek – Second Form Greek
While I require my children learn Latin in our classical homeschool for grades 3 through 8, I let my children choose which language they would like to learn in high school (within reason). Two of my older children wanted to continue in Latin, while one wanted to learn French. All great choices.
This daughter wanted to learn Greek, and will start her second year using Second Form Greek from Memoria Press. She has a unit to finish from First Form Greek, and then will move on to Second Form Greek.
My daughter listens to the streaming lecture and completes the work independently. I check in every few days to make sure she’s on track and moving along at a reasonable pace. She likes Greek, so this has worked out well for us.
☑️ Second Form Greek: Includes Teacher’s Manual, Student Workbook, Student Text, Quizzes and Tests, Answer Key, and streaming teaching videos

10th Grade Christian Studies – The Story of Christianity
Even though we start our homeschool day with reading the Bible, each of my children has a Christian Studies assignment from 4th grade and up. This year, my 10th grader starts the year with The Wars of the Jews and then moves into The Story of Christianity.
She works on this class 2-3 times each week by reading the text and answering the assigned questions.
We meet once each week to discuss the readings and the answers to her questions. This is a fun subject that we both enjoy!
☑️ The Wars of the Jews: Includes Teacher Guide, Student Guide, and text
☑️ The Story Of Christianity: Includes Teacher Guide, Student Guide, and text
