Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? is another favorite book here at the Hill House. We have several Eric Carle books and they just never seem to grow old, despite our reading them a ton of times.
When I plan my 6 year old’s reading cards each week, I try to choose stories that are challenging for her, but not so hard that she is overwhelmed.
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? is the perfect degree of difficulty for her at this particular reading stage.
Each week, I choose a picture book for my early reader. I usually try to choose a book that is new to us, but I also find that the oldies-but-goodies have a wonderful spot in this reading activity as well.
I then make 16 printable cards with words specific to the book.
We go over the cards together, a couple each day, and my daughter independently finds the words in the chosen book.
You can also download a Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? match game with several suggestions for use with a variety of ages.
