As I was printing and gluing together this Thanksgiving File Folder Word Wall, my 6 year old walked into the room to see what I was up to.
When she discovered that this printable packet was for her, shouts of joy erupted!
I absolutely love it when my children are excited about the activities that I prepare for them.
It’s similar to cooking a great meal that everyone gobbles up because it’s so delicious.
There’s a real sense of satisfaction in that!
Between reading living books and doing these types of activities, the vocabularies of my children just explode. As their mama and teacher, that is so fun to see!
Thanksgiving Word Wall in a File Folder
If you haven’t seen this type of printable at Mama’s before, a Word Wall is a fun way to practice vocabulary words about any particular topic, season, or holiday.
For young readers, it can be an excellent way to identify and practice spelling those frequent words.
Since we have minimal wall space in our school room, I decided to put the concept of a Word Wall in a file folder – and it’s been an enormous success!
Instead of placing words on a traditional word wall – a bulletin board or pocket chart – I created a Word Wall that she can glue inside of a file folder.
My daughter will take her folder from her desk, work on her assigned tasks, and then the papers fit back inside her folder.
Then the whole folder is stored compactly in her desk!
It’s the perfect activity for those of us who are tight on space.
