For many years, I created a set of traceable monthly calendars for young learners. I needed a break from that particular project last year (just couldn’t get it finished in time!), however, I am back with Printable Monthly Calendars for the 2023-2024 school year!
If you have downloaded my calendars in the past, you will notice that these are calendars seem… plain. I did not put clipart on the calendars that represent the month.
This decision was intentional, as sometimes the cute clipart is a distraction.
Some of my children love extra pictures and such to color on the sides of the paper.
Other children of mine have needed only black and white pages with nothing extraneous so they could concentrate better.
For the kiddos that need papers to be as free from distraction as possible, this packet is for them!
Printable Monthly Calendars 2023-2024
In this packet of printable monthly calendars, you will find 4 different styles for your young learners:
- Calendars to trace the month, year, and date
- Calendars to color the month, year, and date
- Calendars to write the date (month and year are filled in)
- Calendars to read the month, year, and date
The packet contains all four calendar types, so print only the ones that work best for your children.
This is especially helpful if you have a variety of ages and stages in your homeschool. Some kiddos might use the calendars to trace and some might benefit the best from the calendars to write in the date each day.
Ideas for Using Printable Monthly Calendars
There are a multitude of ways you can use these calendars in your homeschool, co-op, or classroom. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
1.) Place the monthly calendar in a page protector. Use a dry erase marker to trace or write the date each day. If your young ones have enough writing stamina, trace or write all of the dates leading up to the day’s date.
I always buy a multi-pack of dry erase markers since choosing the best color for the day is always fun! The thick markers work best for my Kindergarten and even First Grader.
2.) Complete the dates on the calendar at the beginning of the month. If your children are old enough and have interest, talk to them about events that will be coming up.
Give them simple directions to add to the calendar after writing or reading through the dates. For example in the month of December, have them circle Christmas Day. Instruct them to put an ‘x’ on the last day of school for the year. Have them put a square on a date that you will attend a Christmas party.
3.) Pair the month’s calendar with the set of Calendar Question Cards. The set of cards is universal for every month of the year, so draw a card and figure it out based on the month’s calendar.
4.) Use this set of dated calendars when completing the Daily Calendar Notebook.
The Daily Calendar Notebook has a set of undated calendars so they can be used year after year, however, this monthly set for 2023-2024 is a perfect complement if you need a set of traceable calendars or read-only calendars for your students.
The Months of the Year packet would be a perfect addition to your calendar work! The months include phonics work since this age and stage still needs phonics instruction.
