Through my 17+ years of homeschooling, I have always enjoyed finding different ways to practice various skills. I find that especially in elementary years, it makes learning all the more fun and enjoyable! No, we don’t do “fun” things every day, but I do try to add several in each week to vary our routine a bit.
This set of fall place value puzzles will be a great addition to your math lesson this week! Choose to solve one of these puzzles instead of your regular math worksheet to practice place value this week. Your 2nd grader will love it!

Fall Place Value Puzzles for 2nd Grade
This set of fall place value puzzles will be just right for your 2nd grade child that is practicing place value. One of my frequent sayings is “place value matters!” and I start this concept early in the elementary years. I have found my teenagers are grateful to have a grasp of place value as they start to save their own money.
$90 is quite different than $9, after all.
Each puzzle in this packet contains a 9-piece puzzle for your child to cut apart. After solving the place value section on the worksheet page, he should glue on the correct puzzle piece.

Place Value Skills Included in the Puzzles
The complete packet of place value activities includes 10 puzzles, beginning with a tens-and-ones review and moving into three-digit numbers. Choose a puzzle that matches what your child is studying, or work through the set in order.
The puzzles provide practice with:
- Tens and ones
- Hundreds, tens, and ones, including numbers with a zero
- Expanded form
- The value of a digit
- Finding 10 more and 10 less
- Finding 100 more and 100 less
- Mixed place value clues
Each puzzle has nine matches to complete. The final review brings several of these skills together in one activity.

How to Use These Cut and Paste Math Puzzles
I have included three pages for each puzzle, but you only need to print the two that you need.
Each puzzle contains:
- 1 worksheet with place value practice
- 1 answer puzzle in color
- 1 answer puzzle in black and white
Choose if you’d rather print the color OR the black and white. You will not need both.
If you choose black and white, your child might want to color the picture first since the black and white puzzle is much harder to put together since there aren’t any color clues!
After you print, cut along the dark lines to separate the nine pieces. Your child will find the number represented in each box on the mat, then place the matching numbered piece over it.
Have your child check the completed picture before gluing the pieces down. If a piece looks out of place, go back and check that number together!
