Spring is the perfect time to study frogs.  There’s something about spring and the newness it brings that makes my children want to learn about all kind of animals – frogs included!

Next week, we’re doing a quick unit study on frogs. We will use this set of Frog Life Cycle Worksheets in conjunction with the Pond Worksheets for Kindergarten and 1st Grade.

My children and I will read a few good books, and complete these learning pages.  These frog life cycle worksheets are versatile enough that my 5th grader can use them, all the way down to my Kindergartner.

Frog Life Cycle Worksheets

When studying frogs, we’ll learn about the frog life cycle – how the adult female frog lays frogspawn, how those embryos develop, and how they grow in to adult frogs.

In the frog mini-book, my children will write about this process.  Since I have 4 children on 4 different learning levels, their books will all be unique!

How to Teach the Frog Life Cycle at Home

You don’t need an elaborate science plan to make this topic fun and interesting for your children. I have found in my own homeschool that simple plans are almost always best.

Here’s a simple way to use these frog life cycle worksheets over a few days:

Day 1:
Read through the booklet together and talk about each stage

Day 2:
Use the cut-and-paste version to put the life cycle in order

Day 3:
Complete the vocabulary page and review key frog terms

Day 4:
Label the parts of the frog using the worksheet in the packet

Day 5:
Have your child complete the write-in booklet from memory
