My oldest two children are almost 11 and just-turned-9, so we’ve gone down the road of memorizing multiplication facts twice now.
Whew. For some reason, multiplication facts just seem like a bear to memorize!
While I know that frequent repetition in a variety of ways is the key to learning them, it seems quite drawn out with my second born.
So I made a set of multiplication puzzle cards for her to practice with!
Multiplication Puzzle Cards
While my 9 year old works on a variety of other methods to cement those little multiplication facts in her brain, these multiplication puzzle cards will be a great addition for her!
They’re like flash cards, only self-correcting.
Even though I only require my kiddos to memorize up to the 12’s, I added up to the 15’s for all of you Classical Conversation mamas. 🙂
Here are a few ideas for use:
→ Use as a self-correcting set of puzzles
→ Use a few groups at the time – 3’s, 4’s, and 5’s for example
→ Choose all of the facts with one particular shape – all of the squiggly lines – and match just those
→ Take out all of the doubles and practice only those for day
→ If you’re a teacher, use in your math centers, for kiddos that need extra practice, or for early finishers. You could even laminate a few sets and send home overnight with kids.
This set of multiplication puzzle cards last much longer if you print on card stock and not just plain printer paper.
For a fun change of pace, print them on colored card stock!
